Yes it 'will' work, but without tuning your really defeating the purpose. We put cams in these motors, and to make them run efficient (or as good as can be) tuning is always the best way to go. my TB is drilled one size larger than stock. Im runnin on stock tuning (for now). I've had tuning on the car, and i can tell you you will like tuning a lot more than your stock program in the car!! With my ST-3500, you gota put the car in either park or neutral when comin to a stop or it will want to die. These factory idle settings in an A4 for our car simply aren't the best.

I think you will really enjoy the benefit of tuning. One good aspect of tuning is it will take away that PO300 Misfire code your going to get with any aftermarket cam and stock tuning.

I have the Comp XE-R 224 on a 112 LSA in my A4, and I highly recommend custom tuning. You're most likely going to want to set the idle higher than the PCM will like to see. If the idle is a certain amount of RPM's over what the PCM says it should be at, then it will set the SES light with a PO507 code. Other things to consider with tuning is that you'll need your shift points raised. If you have all of the bolt-ons and a cam, you'll need to be shifting right around 6,600. This is where I'm shifting with my cam. I also had my limiter raised, misfires deleted, rear O2's deleted, trans. line pressure set to vary directly with the TPS, fans to turn on earlier, etc. There is a lot that can be done with custom tuning, and it will make your car much more enjoyable to drive.

Default TR224 in a A4

I have a MMS TB. Was wondering in an A4 what size should the TB hole be to accomodate the cam without the engine dying? 224/224 561/561 @ 114lsa due to auto.

anyone here with A4 have TR224 @ 114? With no tuning will this setup work?

I installed this cam (224/224 @114LSA) in an'02 WS6 with an A4. Also added were a TCI 3000 stall converter and 3.42 gear. The throttle plate hole was drilled to 1/4" in order to get a stable idle without stalling. This may have to be reduced slightly when it is programmed. It does throw overspeed and misfire SES codes. The cam runs and sounds great without headers or programming, but the SES light is annoying.

We are waiting for the '02 version of LS1 edit. We will want to program the PCM to eliminate the misfire codes, raise the idle speed, calibrate the speedometer for the 3.42 gear, raise the shift points and rev limiter, as well as reduce the fan turn on temps.

sun,

you really need to get custom tuning for that cam. I got Ed Wright to do my tuning and my car idles perfect. It surged alittle, but my IAC counts were like 80. I drilled the TB alittle at a time til my counts in park fully warmed up were at 35. Now i have no surging and it never stalls <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
P.S. You just don't want to drill the TB without watching your IAC counts. Just drill alittle at a time til you hit 30 to 40 in park fully warmed up.
