What's the biggest ALL Bore LS1?
I remember seeing a 393 using the stock crank.

MTI is finishing an all-bore 393ci with a stock crank for one of their best customers. As Ryan stated, 4.155" bore, stock 3.62" stroke. Same bore that my 434ci setup will have.

So for the 393 you only need to upgrade your pistons, new bearings and bolts and rings, and machine work. What about the rods? Can we reuse our r0ods and just have them hardened and shotpeened? Or, do we have to get new rods as well?
Would you need stage 3 heads with the 2.08 plus valves or would the stage 2 heads suffice?
How high can you spin these motors - 6700, 7000, etc.?
Can you order just the short block or is there machine work on the heads as well?
How much would one of these cost?
I might be getting a new engine for one of my LS1's and I want to upgrade but not if it is going to cost me too much money.
Thanks,
Eric

Yes, you need stage 3 heads, because the combustion chambers need to be opened up to match the new bore size. That is basically the difference between stage 2 and stage 3. Valve size swaps from 2.055 up to 2.080 are easy because the same seats are used.
Figure about $10K installed on an all-bore engine. That is a good estimate for one that uses billet rods.

The teenager that bought my 98'TA with $5000 in bolt-ons has recently hydrolocked the engine and he wants me to buy back the car from him. I will be doing a trade with him but will be getting the car for a fair deal. I am looking into different options for replacing or rebuilding the engine.
As a point of reference - if my wife found out I spent $10,000 on my car i would be divorced, dead, or both - so that is not an option. I know that's still a good deal but I need to explore more plausible options.

I have a .060 over 6 liter.
I have a 4.075 stroke crank (offset ground Lunati 4.000) but you could offset grind a stock crank and maybe get around 385-390ci out of it.
I received an e-mail from Jayson at MTI, he says that they now have 3 custom liner sizes for LS1 alloy block, up to 4.250" !!!
I thought before that came that 4.125" was the largest bore with a liner you could get...
$1,200 to install them he quoted. Sounds like a good price, but with all bore engine, cool.
With Lunati 4.25" crank, here comes 482 cubes. Foresee any problems with that combo guys? We are sponsored so not our money were playing with..
Thoughts?
