brad, that is why i am prolly not going to mess with the alt pulley. b.c the lights will dim... i am just going to stick with the stock one. plus it is not worth $200 for 2-5 HP

No if you swap only the crank pulley only you can get the light dimming, if you add the alternator pulley it helps keep the lights going. teh kit with both pullies is like 200

You had it backwards man.

Because of the extra alt strain i'm pretty oppsed to them, save a race car.
Since the smaller crank pulley slows down all accessories, some kits offer a smaller alternator pulley to keep it charging at idle speeds.

Just FYI, you are buying a lot more than a pulley, the Dampener is responsible for absorbing all of the harmonics tranmitted to the crankshaft everytime a cylinder fires. Think about it, at 6000 rpms your crank is absorbing 24000 cylinders firing a min, thats 400 cylinders a sec. This is why controlling harmonics (vibration) was my primary objective and reducing accesory drive losses my secondary objective when i decided to replace my harmonic dampener/pulley.

Your wrong here. This is a direct effect on the crank. Its money well spent. And the lights don't dim. Only time I have trouble with dimming light is when I crank up the tunes and my aftermarket amp sucks the juice out of the system.

I'm for it. For 10 rwhp or 1/10th at the track, it's a worthwhile mod, every little bit counts. FWIW I didn't have any charging or dimming problems on my M6, with the ASP crank underdrive pulley, but the M6s idle a bit higher than the A4s...

Most people add a cam with the pulley. The cam usualy requires a higher idle speed.The higher idle speed makes up for the underdrive pulley at idle.
