Default Give me your opinion on this motor setup...

My motor is out of the car and I just don't have all the money I need to do the turbo setup I want to. What if I have a stage 2 port job done to the heads, keep the hammer cam or get a larger one maybe, put in Wiseco pistons (stock replacement spec), rebalance, LS6 intake, along with a 150-200 wet shot? I know I'd need a bigger fuel pump. I have a '98 so the injectors should be ok for the motor runs right? The wet shot will take care of the spray runs. I plan to buy a 12 bolt or 9" with 3.73's and I am getting a Spec stage III ceramic clutch. With all this, what can I expect for HP levels? What about MPH at the 1/4 mile?

ANY info or suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks

Man that sounds good. The Forged pistons are a must for the N2O. I would keep your hammer cam, get a ported T/B and do some tuing to the ECU and you should be around 500hp at the crank and 650+ w/ N2O. I would look to see what kind of RWHP Raughammer has, and that should give you a good estimate for N/A assuming you go with MTI heads.

You could pull some sick times on N2O if that driveline stays together and you hook up.

i would not waste my time with the Star III clutch. i had one and all it did well was chatter. it did not hold well at all (stock PP it comes with!). go with carteck or McLeod. yo will be so much happier. esp after you have to replace your Star!

Well Danny, I'm opposed to you putting out any more power, since I may run into you around here
Seriously, it sounds like a killer set-up, but what Stage 2s would you be using? ARE, GTPs? The TEAs have been looking very good as well. I'm not aware of anyone around here with heads to speak to locally, other than George C.
I assume LS1Edit, since no shop around here is competent to handle tuning the LS1.
If you decide to get rid of that Hammer cam, let me know, not sure if I'll have the $$, but it sure would be fun!
Just curious, why would you get 3.73s? I thought they were hardly noticable on an M6 Why not 4:10s?
Hope to see you back on the road around here soon!

If you're making more HP, especially at a higher RPM, the 4.10 wouldn't be bad at all. Don't they only raise cruising RPM by like 300 in 6th? What's the calculation on 4.10 M6vs 3.73? Anyone. I'm just saying most people complain about the 3.73s not doing **** over the 3.42s, and the 4.10s would pull insane If you have enough HP at high RPM, will not cost you anthing up top, as long as you keep it under 170

I thought that 4.10's were NOT good I was wanted to spray? If so then the 3.73's would be the best. This is just what I have heard.

Well, as far as the heads, you ever heard of Brent Frazier Engineering? He builds 6 second street cars and the like. He works on Johnny Gullet's Pro 5.0 stang, and has done work to a few Fbodys with each of them putting out astounding HP. And, they arent just dyno queens. They go to the track (and street) and prove it. He just got done doing some heads for a friend of mine's LS1 and we're gonna bolt them on and see what they do. We bought LS1 edit and will be using Speedcrafts dyno and wideband.

I want to get the 12 bolt or 9" to accomodate the power but I like my highway racing still more than the track. I dont want to go higher than a 3.73 for that reason. 4.10's are just too tall.

And that about sums it up.

SPEC stage III ceramic clutch works flawless in my heads and cam cars. No slip just excelent 60`s.
