Default Cartek Stage II-X Heads and Cam Pass Emissions Big Time!!!!

Well since I was the first F-Body with this package installed in there car, I had to go through inspection for this month. I was really sweating because nobody knew if this package would pass or not. My engine compression is 11.3:1 and I am putting out over 512 FWHP so I was scared that my highflow cats and engine package would fail the sniffer test.

Well the techs at the shop I went to were as amazed as I was. The readings were only a little higher then some of the stock Z-28s that come in there for inspections.

Here are the great results..

CO% Limit = .42 and my Reading was .04
HC ppm Limit = 76 and my reading was 27
NO ppm Limit = 605 and my reading was 55

Big thanks goes out to Julio and Dave at Cartek. Great work gentleman. A package that can kick some *** at the track, yet be tame enough to pass the PA sniffer test with ease. I am impressed!!

Congrats on passing the sniffer test. Well done. Be carefull quoting flywheel hp figures though. The hp loss going through the drivetrain is more of a fixed figure...around 50 hp through a M6 with a 12 bolt. This would put you around 488 fwhp...which still rocks the house. Just don't use a percentage like 15% driveline loss. You will lose credibility with folks in the know. Cheers.

Wow you passed by a longshot. That's impressive. I wonder if the high compression helped??

I think the 1000 RPM idle helped a lot too. My car always idles around 950-1000 RPM.

I am so happy it passed. Now I have nothing to worry about with the engine package. It is really running strong and so far I have been doing just fine with 94 octane gas even in the hot weather we have been getting.

That's a decent size cam to pass so easily. I wonder if Julio made some adjustments to spark & fueling at the bottom end to clean it up.

Just saw your high idle speed. That's one of the biggest factors in getting these big cammed motors to pass the sniffer test. When they fail, it's always on the low speed portion of the test. Low idle speed is really dirty...especially with a bigger cam.
