Default Buying springs/retainers... question

I am buying a set of 941 comp springs and Ti Retainers off of a guy for 117 shipped they have 5k on them. My question is how long do you think they will last with this cam. I dont have the money to buy 918's right now.

Comp XE
duration @ .006 271
Duration @ .050 218
Lift .563
LSA 114

any ideas? Don't want to hurt anything:/

Don't buy used springs and retainers unless you can crack test them all first - check each spring on a tester etc. Buying used springs is like buying a second hand set of alloy rods - "They have only done 5 passes- trust me " - yeah right !!!!

Typically 941 springs will last around 20k miles. Many people have gotten as few as 3k. Theoretically, you could put in these 941s and have them break the very next day. Too risky for me...I'm buying 918s for my T1.

Hey Jim,

Don't use the 941s.. I broke a 941 spring with my small 218/218 .563 comp cam.. I'd recommend the new SLP springs.. They are cheap and better than the 941s.. They will also work with the same titainium retainers that fit the 941s.. They also have an upgraded retainer option as well Check the links..

Another option would be:

CompCams ‘Beehive’ Ovate Wire Springs P/N 26918-16. These are a direct replacement with 130 lb seat press @ 1.800” install height. Use the #TI 772 titanium retainers or your stock steel retainers. Good up to .625" lift and 7,500 rpm.
