Whats the best stock sounding cam??
I have a 01' LS6 cam that I'm thinking of putting in but now am having 2nd thoughts. I still want a 100% stock idle sounding cam, just something that will produce more power in higher rpm's.
Someone help me out please. I really dont know much about cams.
My mods include the list below plus FLP's and a LS6 intake are going in very soon.
I need to decide soon and I dont want to regret putting in the LS6 cam if I could have gone with something better. But rememeber, I want it to still sound 100% stock at idle.
Thanks <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Most small or mid sized cams can sound stock if you raise your idle speed enough. My T1 lopes pretty hard with an 850 idle rpm, but it would probably sound stock if I had the idle bumped up to around 1200-1300rpm. That's assuming you're having programming done.

As mentioned above, raise the idle speed and put on a quiet catback ( hooker ) along with the cats. I think you could get away with a 224 duration cam on a 114lsa under those conditions. Of course my ear for a "stock" sounding car is somewhat off...

Anything could sound stock as long as you have a quiet exhaust. Boshawk has the hammer cam w/o cats going through a dual dual, and it sounds stock to me.

Counterpoint:
Assuming: You are not going to spend $1000 having the LS6 cam installed...
The LS6 cam is a proven factory component that is very durable, emissions passing and sounds dead stock.
My friend's 01 Z06 with an air filter and thermostat Dynoed 361/360.
It pulls totally different than my 01 C5 cam, 198/204 .500/.500. It has excellent torque and screams to 6400 RPM. By 5900 my Vette is falling on its face. Different sound and a different attitude.
