Default cam help

CompCams Xtreme 228/234 .539/.547 112LSA
how do you think this cam will perform in an A4 and what do you think the idle might do? What kind of a power range will/might it have. ie..mid low end tq....etc...thnx

ps terry im not looking for a cam that peaks real high, i want low/mid "oommff" and top it off on the top end with a good shot of the funny gas.

In an A4!

Good luck getting it to idle right. You may not want to hear this, but personally, I think the driveability would be terrible. And low rpm throttle response (tip-in) would be sluggish if used in a daily driver with anything less than a 4,000 stall converter. Poor choice

How bout Comp Cams 220/220 .563/.563 (or equivalent) on a 114 LSA?... Less duration, more lift, and much better street manners in traffic.

The XE-R lobes have less advertised duration vs. duration at .050" than the XE lobes. For example, the advertised duration of an XE-R 224 is the same as the advertiesed duration of an XE 220. They both have 273 degrees of advertised duration. This means that the overlap area will be similar which is primarily what affects idle characteristics.

To make that cam work you would need at least a TP4400 converter, 4.10 gears, more compression, headers, custom tuning, etc. etc.... Again, that is if you want it to work "right". You COULD just put it in and MAKE it work....with less than stellar results.
To summarize...it's WAY too big unless you plan on building your car around it.

Too big? so is the 229/229MMS cam for your stated application.

You did say you wanted low end umph, did'nt you? The bigger you go.... the more "low end" you lose. (generally speaking)
