Slow is a relative term. A 15 car is slow compared to me. I'm slow compared to a 10 second car. A ten second car is slow compared to a 8 second car. A 8 second car is slow compared to a 6 second car. It's all personal perception and personal preference.
I'm working on getting faster though. I ended up buying a LME 416. It was more then $3,900 but I get more cubes and it was built to handle big shots of N20. When it's all done I should be in the 10's easy (maybe some nines on a 200 shot). But I'll still be slow compared to the 8 second guys
As for my knowledge of drag racing lemme just say this. I found that with my Nittos 20 psi works best. I do a 5-10 second burnout depending on track temp, I leave on the third yellow cutting pretty nice reaction times, I have dead hooked several times and I have impressed Mike @ New Era with both my ET and my 60'. I feel this combo is maxed out with what's in my sig short of weight reduction. You can't ask for more then that.
No reason to be defensive.

And why wouldn't a 383 last as long as a 347?

But look at it this way. Maybe someone else who comes to the same fork in the road a year from now might see this thread in a search. Then they'll get the benifit of more votes

Camarokid, way to bring back a dead thread.
Since its back up front I'll let ya'll know what I went with. I chose the 383. Weber Racing was running a short block special and I wanted more cubes but at the same time I wanted to keep my 3.9 bore heads which I had just purchased for my 346 but never got to make a pass with. 383 stroker is really the most you can get out of an LS1 block. I'm hoping for 480 rwhp through a TH350, 8" converter, 12 bolt, 4.10 gears. I'll let ya'll know around the end of this month when I get everything put back together.

It seems that a lot of people didn't even read the original post though. This was for a forced induction setup utilizing the P-1SC procharger. If I would have been going N/A, or with a D-1SC, or F1, the decision would have been different for the shortblock I chose. I think people are just too lazy to read

But hey- now that this thread is up again anyways, I'll update everyone on my setup. The P1 has been ditched in favor now of an F1. I am still satisfied with the 347 at this time and glad I went that way. I don't have any new dyno numbers yet, but with the F1 and the new AFR 225 heads, I'm expecting to be in the 700~750 rwhp range. It is seriously overkill for a street car, and too much power IMO. So yeah, I could have gone with bigger CI and maybe have more power with the F1 now, but seriously- whats the point if I can't even hook up at triple digit speeds with my little ol 5.7L If (when) I upgrade the engine again, I am going to do either a warhawk or LSX that way I can use the 6 bolt per cylinder heads and get more clamping force.
