Default Need some input on oil Preasure Problem

I have been getting eratic oil preasure readings Basically Zero at Idle (light comes on) but comes up with RPM. So I replaced the Pump With the Gm Pump and Now still have the same Problem. Is the sending unit Known to go bad in these Cars or can it be 2 bad pumps pick up problem or oil Viscosity I use 10W 40. Input would be helpful as I have limited exp. With the LS1. Also what is the location of the sending unit. Thank You

I believe the oil pressure sending unit is on the top rear of the block behing the intake manifold and can get damaged fairly easiy when "tilting" the engine down for example when removing the trans or what not. Also have seen posts here on breaking the sender during an intak manifold swap. Did you have any work done on your car before noticing the problem?
