Default TR 224 cam S2 heads

We just finished an install on Daves 2001 M6 Formula, This is my first personally installed Thunder cam in an M6, the last 4 were all auto's. It's a 224 cam on a 112 with our newest S2 heads. It idle's at 825 RPM with no problem, no surgerolling comming to traffic lights and I have the idle counts around 29 - 32 hot. Rolling at 1,800 RPM getting into the throttle briskly exhibits lots of torque and tire smoke, I am very pleased with the driveability of this package and the powerband doesen't seem to drop off at anytime right to the 6,800 RPM rev limit. I will be dyno testing next week and we are hoping for some good power figures from this package!

Extreme Z28,
Our S2 heads are $2,000.00 shipped, Ferrea stainless 2.02 intake 1.60 exhaust valves, Dave's M6 car mentioned above has not been dynoed yet, it will be on the rollers next week and I will have the sheet posted. The last JPR S2 224 cam in a WS6, it dynoed 411 RWH through an unlocked converter with stock gears and ran 11.90 at 115.98 at the track completly stock weight, chassis and stock gears. I am hoping for around 420 RWH from this M6. I just wanted to make mention about how pleased we are with using this realitively large cam.

JS, I haven't seen anyone ask for a sheet in this thread except for you. Looking to change packages?

Thanks for your help.

Joe,

Congrats on Daves' car. That baby does run sweet. I wouldn't worry to much about peak dyno numbers. I've seen a car that went threw thousands of dollars of work and dynoed over 60rwhp more and only go a half a tenth faster in the 1/4 mile over his old setup Keep up the good work.

Dennis theres no need for that kind of stuff.Joe and I worked out r differences last week.I wasnt knocking him or his setups.I wanted to see some dyno runs thats all.

Geez
Knock a guy after 5 runs on his car.
That shows maturity.

Wuzzzzzzzzzzz up. I am now in the process of rebuilding the tranny and I am very curious to see what happens after that. Depending on where I stand with money I MAY, I said MAY redyno with the 12 bolt, Macs, and the new tranny. If not which is most likely I will let the track speak for my fat *** car. Joel we should put all four parts of our setups on a serious diet. I HOPE to be running at Cecil on May 11th. we'll see how strange does delivering the rear in a timely fashion. Joe hope you are feeling better.

well like Joe said my car will be out running some new times. i had a lil tranny problmes but the tranny will be in this week, im going to install a cutout and do a few more runs. next time out ill do the ewp. and then maybe after that ill crank up the boost to 8lbs. im sure ill have to do a couple of quick rebuilds on my puny lil 10 bolt. i should have the 12 bolt in a few weeks though.

Joe keep up the good work.

Bear,U will get about 9RWHP more from a good working box if your trans was slipping like mine on the dyno?

I figured that my old JPR setup wouldve made 380/365 locked if my trans wasnt slipping.

Mike your car is VERY impressive,.I see u running 10.40 or even alittle better if u add alittle more boost, tweek the tune and add a 12 bolt.

I'll tell ya my new setup felt pretty good the 1st time out except it layed down with that big tire up top.I couldve gone to a 26in slick like I had before but I wanted to try the shorter gear/28in tire combo to see if I could muster a 1.47 60ft with me in the car?I dont know if that'll happen now that the weather is getting hot.

Gotta give Terry the thumbs up.
He said I'd gain 2 tenths and 2 mph with the new setup. So far he's pretty close.I ran exacty 1.4 better in ET and 1.71 better in MPH but that was at a 60lb HEAVIER weight and a MUCH worse DA.I feel 3 tenths and 3MPH over my old setup is realistic.I'm shooing for 11.00's at 120+at 3550lbs.

I'm going on a strict diet on monday
Salads, chicken, water and a protien drink for breakfast everyday.I gotta keep up with the pack and at 345lbs it isnt gonna happen.I bought a stationary bike and I'm gonna ride it 20 min a day before work.If I can get down to 250 the car will run 10's....

Gotta tell ya there r some real impressive setups comming out.Wait til Bob gets out. He''s gonna fly.

Terry do u really think I wouldve changed setups if it was 10 grand?U know I'm not that stupid.I can tell u it was cheaper than 3000 for everything.

Almost forgot. What do u run again Terry?

Bear,

I think you will be pleasantly surprised with how much better a good shifting tranny makes your car perform. The tranny rebuild in my car made a big difference. My 2-3 shift was sloppy. I don't even pretend to know much about trannies but I could see before the tranny rebuild that my car was losing too much steam on the 2-3 shift. Now, it shifts much harder and doesn't fall on its face after that 2-3 shift. I kinda wish we had 5 speed autos, I think the A4 cars would MPH a little better if the drop offs between shifts were not as severe. These LS1 are not low-RPMs torque beasts and our cars are heavy, they won't pull out of a low RPM as strongly as say a roots blower 2900 lb Mustang notchback would....

Joel,

Good luck with that. Its much more important then any drag racing could ever be....

I don't think I have ever heard anyone say anything bad about this Thunder 224 cam. It really seems like the cam to run now, for both autos and 6 speeds....

Good numbers Joe, keep us updated....
