Similr question. I just haven't started to look into it yet. Try Hucks Machine. They build my friends SBC race motors and he mentioned to me that he had discussed with them.
Have you tried the local club board?

Check with BES(Bischofs Engine Services) 812-637-5933. I know they have done some LS1's and are well known in the drag racing world. Like Chris stated, be sure and check out the local f-body board. www.gcfba.com Also are you going to do the tear down yourself or looking for a shop who does everything?

I talked to Bischofs. They did not have the plate. I talked to Hucks. He also did not have it but said he would be interested in honing in exchange for the plates if I bought them. It looks like I am going to buy the plates. I am building the motor myself. Thanks for the replies.

'Vert, sounds like a good deal w/ Hucks. Like I said, they do my friends machine work for his 430+ SBC motors and he's been ahppy with them for a long time. Let us local guys know how you make out w/ them.
Also, I'd be interested in what you're doing and seeing it as it goes together, and maybe lend a hand here and there. Like Tom said, shoot over to the local club boardsome time and introduce yourself. There are a buch of folks who will be intrested in what you're planning and green w/ envy.
