Default Cam Opinions with my setup

I'm looking for opinions for a new cam..

My Current setup is:

GTP Stage 2 5.3 heads
LS6 Intake
FLP's w/cutout
Custom forged Pistons and rods
Ported TB, MAF, Etc.

Car is an M6, and I'm looking for high end pull. I do most of my racing on the track or the highway. Low/mid torque would also be nice. I'm not that worried about low end torque, but, that would be nice.

I've looked at the G5 cam, the TR224 and 229 cams, 228/232 GTP cam (?) and a few others.. I don't mind going super radical on the cam, as long as I get the most power for my money..

Thanks for your help,

Jen. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Hi!

From my research the Thunder cams really go well with the GTP heads.

It sounds like a TR 224/224 112 LSA will be perfect for your setup.

I may be going with the same package as yours except with the 114 LSA as I have an A4.
You will have an awesome setup from what I have heard...
Good luck.

What type of power am I looking at? Anyone have a dynograph with a similar setup?

What will the 229 cam gain me over the 224?

What rpm do you want to shift at? Since you have a built shortblock, you'll probably be shifting higher than most of the guys on the stock shortblock, right?

Ever thought of a solid roller cam?

Don't have the money or time to do a solid roller..

My rev limit is at 7k per Ed Wright.

I don't mind shifting at 6800 or whatever.. Again, I was looking for high end pull for highway racing or at the track.. I feel that I can pull around 440-450 to the wheels, and with that, I should be able to pull over 400 ft/lbs from 4k rpm's.

Jen, i would consider Thunder Racing 224 on 114* that should rev to 6600 no problem, if you want more you might look at MMS 229version 2.1, Terry Burger claims it idles good and makes great top end power. He does have higher compression, and that would affect idle and low speed driveability, but yours should be up there too with 5.3 heads. 229 cam should rev to 6800 no problem with proper spring tension.

I've got 918's in the heads.

Will that work well?
