Keep in mind, this is not a regular 3k interval. I do my oil changes about every 1.5k miles as that works out to about every 6 months b/c I don't drive the car much. So this had 1500 miles, max, on it.
So is this the second oil change?

That's ferrous material probably 90 percent from your valvetrain. The springs and retainers and dampers and locators wear in and put a lot of tiny particles in the oil. Normally they would be in your filter but the magnet attracted them to it. Bearing pieces in the oil are copper in general since you don't have steel on steel at the bearing/jornal interface but you do where the springs and damper and locator and retainer etc. are rubbing each other.
If you cut the filter open and saw lots of copper you'd have bearing trouble and it would be obvious. Oil pressure is a measure of the restrictions on the oiling system and when you run higher oil clearance you will see less pressure which means you have more oil flow through the bearings.
If you run the bearing clearances really really tight then you will have much higher oil pressure and also have a much higher chance of spinning those same bearings and blowing up.

No there will be some of that in the oil alwas but after a certain time it should be mostly gone. This is why so many people have problems right after changing cams and valvetrain too. They will get a piece of something stuck in the pressure relief valve sometimes which really will reduce pressure untill it dislodges or is cleaned.
