Default New MMS 229 cam, Any thoughts

I am thinking about upgrading my cam to the new MMS 229 (I believe V2.1). Does anyone have this cam ? If so what do your dyno numbers look like ? What RPM do you make max HP at and how much area is there under the curve. I currently have the MMS 224v3 and the Stage 2x heads. This setup is to peaky for me. I would like a little broader power band. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
John

Not sure if its any help but I picked up 15rwhp and .2ths going from the MMS 224v3.1 to the 229v2.1. I think its a great cam. Which tuning do you have? My 224v3.1 had a pretty broad power band.

Yeah for some reason my 224v3 made good peak power, but nothing in the middle. Example: at 5500 rpm my car is at about 320 hp then 6000 maybe 355 then at 6700 hits 400 and holds it until 6900. This is too top heavy for my liking. Mike says the new 229v2.1 should give me a little more in the middle and a few more ponies up top. My tuning was done by Z Industries but through Morgan. Again any info would be appreciated. I would just like a little bit more area under the curve.

Thanks

John

Fireball, Terry, about how high are you shifting with this cam compared to your previous B1 and 224? From everything I've heard, you cant be afraid of revs with this stick.

I have my shift light set at 6800.

just dynoed it (not gonna say the numbers since my tuning was whacked). anyway it peaked at 6300 RPM and held strong up to 6700-6800

I will say this...I compared my dyno pulls from my B1...it made almost as much power as the B1 (within 6 RWHP) with the tuning PIG RICH (.980s on the O2s, the tuning on the B1 was almost dead nuts perfect IMO) My first attempt picked up 9 RWHP and I had ALOT left to do and the pressure plate broke so I was done after 2 pulls <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

I truly believe I have an honest 395 RWHP possible with this cam with my not-so-dyno-friendly setup (9", 4.71 gears, 3 1/2" steel driveshaft, etc)
