Default Anybody running this Cam or similar? Inside...

Hello all,

just wondering if anybody is running a cam with the same or similar specs to this COMP Cam grind :

.530 / .534 lift
220 / 224 duration
114 LSA

If so, could you please post any feedback on the characteristics of how a cam with these specs would work on a stock heads car with bolt -ons (LT headers, lid, MAF, bellows, and an LS6 intake):

What kind of HP gain? Peaky powerband or more midrange? Idle quality - lopey, too rough, or close to stock? Was PCM tuning or TB hole enlargement necessary? Any other comments / info / advice you could share would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

-Bradster

Should be a great cam with stock heads. It's actually not that wild of a cam, especially on a 114. It'll give you a fairly smooth idle. No PCM work will need to be done. It will not be peaky, but more of a wide power band. I doubt you'll have to enlarge the throttle blade hole, but you might have to turn the throttle screw a turn or two. Should be a mild cam, good for daily driving and picking grandma up from church!

Thanks for the feedback, Black Magic Although I have no plans for "picking up grandma from church" anytime soon, I do want less of a "Peaky" cam and more of a broader powerband-type cam.

How do you think this cam would compare to the Hotcam (another cam I was considering with similar specs).

Just wondering

Thanks again,

Very similar, except more broad than the Hot Cam. The Hot Cam has always been my favorite cam. I dyno'd 397 with it. It loped pretty good, but I liked that also. IT's just my opinion, but I think the cam your asking about might make less power than the Hot Cam. I liked the peaky power because I have a stick.
