I'm building a forged 346.
The idea of a light weight 346 is a neat one, but for $1500 more you can add 40 cubic inches with an all bore motor. It's easy to see why someone would go that route.
What do I know, Just tring to help out.

Scat used to have a small pile of custom stroke cranks lying around.... 3.900 stroke, no reluctor wheel. They were made for Mallet. Price was like $2200. Imagine that crank with a big bore. Would be a nice motor.

IMO Terry, to me it is no challenge to build a big ci motor to get alot of hp, well sometimes it is if the one building it know there ****. It's a challenge to build a small ci and achieve the same or more hp's than a big ci motor!!!!
Now that's what im after and that to me is a big challenge which I will get there!!!

Now how are you going to get more out of the 346ci w/out a power adder? You can solid roller all you want too and still will not put out as much rwhp/rwtq as a 422ci.. If this was possible I am sure someone would have done it. So far the biggest # I have seen out of a 346ci NA was posted by Gordon Sevins of 460rwhp..

It went in the dumpster along with the block (still in the block, since it wouldn't come out).

I'm getting Manley Pro series rods. Ross or JE custom nitrous pistons. And all the gaskets, head stud kit, and everything else from ARE... Ill see how this likes a 200 - 250 shot. And then ill slap on GTP Stage 2 heads, cam and a worked Holley intake and see what happens. Anyone else try this yet?

I built a forged piston/forged rod LS1 for my 84 Vette about 2 years ago. It has worked very well for me so far. I have GTP heads and plan on a 150 shot very soon.
