Who would be interested in a harmonic balancer installer???
As far as I know Kent-Morre is the only company that offers one and man it is a pricy piece.
A friend of mine is a machinest and he made me one and it is a nice piece and works perfectly. I told him I would check around and see if anyone else would like one. I'll get him to put a price on it as soon as I can and let everyone know. For now I just wanted to see if anyone was interested.
The tool is made out of good material and if used properly will last a lifetime. It will work with the engine in the car or with it out. It also works on Vettes and trucks.

So would I. I've never actually used the Kent Moore tool and I can testify that doing the install/removal without it is a pain in the @$$ on an LS1.

OK guys I'll have you a price when I return friday. Thanks for the response.
This tool was made out of necessity because...
1. The bolt is not long enough and....
2. I don't like to take a hammer and beat on a $500 ATI balancer and....
3. You will eventually mess the threads up in the end of the crank when using the bolt to pull the balancer on.

I use the GM tool all the time, but I have to borrow it from work when I need it. I'd be interested as well for a reasonable price.
Snap-on does have a very nice pulley puller for the factory balancer. It works much better than the GM tool, but only on stock pulleys...

The Kent-Moore tool is also applicable to installing the front seal and the lower timing gear.

I purchased all the Kent-Moore tools needed for the cam swap and they are worth every penny I paid. They can be a little pricey, but there is nothing like having the right tools for the job. If you plan on doing quite a few cam swaps, just budget them into the price of the cam, springs, etc.
If I hadn't already bought the Kent-Moore harmonic balancer installer, I'd buy Joe's piece without a doubt.

Re: Who would be interested in a harmonic balancer installer???
I picked up a piece of all thread and used it with the Kent Moore tool that I borrowed from a friend.
I cut my all thread to length to make sure I got way in the threads and not just on the tip so I wouldn't strip them out.
I am working on me an installer tool for me up in my shop at work right now.
Joe, your doing a great thing. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Some parts are outrageous in price.

You can buy longer bolts that fit the crank for $1 at a bolt shop. I can buy tons of em and mail them out if needed. Worked fine for me. Why do we need a special tool?
