Jason, I bought the summit LS6 kit for my 6-speed 01 SS and I cant be happier!!! I used the stock exhaust manifolds, y-pipe, and the optional SS dual/dual exhaust the car came with. The only other mod I have is the SLP MAF and I programed the car with a hypertech power programer. I mostly used the programer to get rid of the rev-limiter. The cars idle sounds stock and the drivability is perfect! The car picked up about 1 mpg. As for performance, the car ran a best of 12.5@ 108mph on the STOCK tires and STOCK gearing. This was a cold day with a "good for stock tires" 1.9 60ft at new england dragway. My average run at the track is usualy 12.7's with a 2.1 60ft time. This car suprises alot of people. If you want a stock looking car with unmatched drivability without a shaking idle/staling or custom tuning, the LS6 conversion is a perfect choice. I took this route with my car because its a daily driver that I like to drive everywhere including long distance vacations. The car has never been dyno'd, but it has probably picked up 40-60 hp. Im sure you could make more power for less money, but I went the LS6 route for the reliability and drivability. I hope this help you.

I used an LS6 long block after I hydro-locked the original LS1 when my CAI took in water! With manifolds, the SLP Dual/Dual catback, 2.73's, 3000 stall, a lid and mail order tune the car went 12.55 @ 111.4 on Goodyear Eagle F1's! Overall I'm happy with the setup. My car is a daily driver, wet, dry, sleet or snow (over 200 miles a week) and there was absolutely no sacrifice in driveability. With a few more mods you've got the times in my sig. Of course, now I want more, but that's the name of the game right? Maybe some spray if I thougt the 10 bolt would hold up! Do some searching on here before you make your decision. I've found this site and the people who frequent it to be an invaluable resourse in deciding what to buy and what not to buy. Each time I've strayed from the recommendations I've gotten from this board I've been sorry. Take it for what it's worth and good luck with whatever you decide!

Hey Dan! Sorry for the delayed response, but I've been trying to get back to you and my computer's all screwed up. I'm on a work computer now, so if you don't hear back from me for a day or so I haven't gotten my personal to run right! As far as LVD, I'm not familiar with that track. I run at Englishtown Raceway Park 4 or 5 times a year. Depending where LVD is I'd certainly consider taking a trip out there to meet up for a night of racing! I'm off on Wednesday and Thursday nights from May until October, so I certainly have the time! Let me know.
