Just talked with Barry at ARE and he told me I needed new main bolts since they were tty. I didnt think that they were..just the head and crank bolt/s. Can anyone confirm this? I only rev to the stock 6200 limit so if the bolts do need replacing, do i need ARP studs?
They may be right or not. Just because you use the torque setting followed by an angular setting does not mean you have a torque to yield fastener, merely that you are achieving a specific clamp load. LS1 tech manuals mention tty for the head bolts but there is no mention of tty for the main cap bolts. Mike.
The main bolts are reuseable, but you may want to consider some better rod bolts. I didn't feel too good about the stock rod bolts after I felt them stretching, so I used Katech's rod bolts in mine.

Put it this way. I will re-use my bolts as I've seen nothing to say otherwise. If yours look good you could think about doing the same. They aren't tty. Mike.
