Default Need help - which setup for new motor??

I talked to a number of people on the board and it has come down to a 393 allbore (nineball's recommendation) or a 382 stroker.

The car is going to be a daily driver with limited track time. Currently it's a 99ss m6 with b1cam ,flp headers with all the boltons.

The problem is I need to pass emissions in Virginia and some people have told me that I can't go higher than a 224 cam if I want to keep it emission legal. Now if I can't go higher than a 224 will I be able to take advantage of ls6 heads since with the 224 cam I would probably be shifting (M6) at around 6600. Don't you need a pretty big cam say above 230 and a lift above .600 to get full advantage of the ls6 heads?

If I can't go above 224 would it make more sense to get ls1 stage III heads?? Decisions, Decisions!!

I will be ordering the engine next week and here is what I'm looking at:
393 all-bore long block with a 224/224 cam with a 571 lift at 112
ls6 stage III heads or ls1 heads depending on which makes sense with an emissions cam

or a
382 stroker with 6.0 truck heads and a thunder racing 224 cam long block motor - Paul@Thunder's idea <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Paul seemed to think that the allbore could have some reliability issues and I don't have enough experience with either to make a deicision.

Any input would be appreciated.

If you don't go to the track just do a stock shortblock with a decent heads/cam package. You'll never notice the 393/382 gains on the street.

With an all bore you would pass emissions easily with a 230/230 cam on 114LSA and make more power over a 224/224 cam
