Can you use the timing chain that comes with this set on stock timing gears ?

I would not recommend it. I didn't even use the Cloyes chain with my Cloyes set. I used the IRL chain. I've not heard anything good about the chain and didn't want to chance it on such an expensive build.

The chain looked to me to be exactly the same as the stocker-- what's the opinion on it's strength limit?

Pretty sure it is just a stock chain..I went to jwis chain from katech and used the comp cams sprockets as heard they are stronger than the stock pieces. The jwis chain is used by c5r race cars and is supposed to be plenty strong.Since I also put in a blueprinted oil pump at the same time as the cam I should have mabye went with the new double roller from slp..It would have been easy to space the oil pump since I took it out anyway.Oh well..hopefully this single high strength chain will be enough.
