Arp Head Stud tensions
Just bought a set of ARP head studs for the LS1 and was wondering what everyone is tensioning the nuts (studs) too ?
The paperwork that came seemed very general stating 65 ftlbs with moly which seems about right but just wanted more or less someone to confirm this for me please.
What tension are the smaller studs done too ?
Thanks.

I dont have them but i plan on running them. I would install in block hand tight, use Arp lube not just any moly and torque to their recc. torque with their lube. That is critical. I would plan on retorque after driving and cooling down. The studs set and gasket settles, making retorque necessary. If that sounds like too much work, i would torque gaskets and let sit for several hours than loosen nuts and allow that to sit for a while.Than retorque finally, this procedure is almost as good, but doesnt require you put it all back together, run and dissassemble again. What gaskets are you going to use?
Gee! I’ve got them and have always just gone reasonably gentle on those little guy’s. It’s kind of a feel thing. No big issue, they don’t do much anyway!
With studs, pulling through/from the engagement of the thread, you can get out of trouble by a week.
Just for practice. Three of us one night, measured the difference with torque to yield bolts, (angle gauge) over the ARP set up. We logged all settings. 25 - 28 flb’s on the little ones, you are referring to.
I’ve run the old gaskets and the new, with no issues.
