You are going to need to have the cylinder heads off the motor for this to be done. Labor to machine out the spring pockets is around $50. The dual springs I would be the Comp 987s w/ the Comp 776 Ti. retainers. You will also need the Comp ID locator. (Comp part # 4712)
This setup has worked very well in the past.

Thanks Jason, The heads are already off the car and at the machine shop. If I was to have the heads cut for the springs could I still run the 918s?
Wicked,
There is also a chance of breaking through when the spring pockets are machined out do to casting inconsistancies and/or port work. If that happens, you will have to get the break welded up and re-machined. Also more $... But if you are planning on doing this, now is the time.
You could still run the 918's for now since the springs are located by their centers, not their perimeters...

Thanks, Im probially gonna go ahead and get them machined and just put the 918s. How hard is it to install the springs while the heads are on the car?

The double springs might be a good deal harder to do due to the pressures involved. If I was going to properly set up a double spring valvetrain, I would take the heads off of the car and do it right... I.E. measure each installed height and shim as necessary. When you install your heads this time, why not stud the block and use the Cometic or Fel-Pro gaskets. This will allow you to easily pull the heads next time...

I used a set of Fel-Pros but they were over $60 a piece... I've heard about the new GM gaskets but I don't know if they'd be easier to clean off of the block or not. Maybe someone else will chime in on this one...
