Re: G5 cam specs
Thanks for posting the results Terry, I thought it was about time that people should know the specs anyway. It's just a cam and probably is a great cam for stock headed cars or poorer flowing exaust ports on ported heads. That's just my opinion though.
What I want to know is WHY Lou himself said the cam was "OVER 225 duration" and such and such, yet it came in at 224??? That's not right to be dishonest about it in the first place.
I think there is a concept into this cam that may be worth thinking about. The intake valve opening/closing point is the most important to make power. The quicker you can get the air in and have time to compress the air, the more power you'll make. So an aggressive lobe is essential. But the exaust lobe can be ground to help bleed a little pressure earlier but more importantly hold the exaust valve open at lower lifts longer to not help exaust flow tremendously, but to help draw in the fresh intake charge. With the valve only opened up a little, you shouldn't pull the intake charge out through the exaust and keep it in the combustion chamber. So a less aggressive exaust lobe may be the way to go.
If I'm not mistaken, the SAM car uses a less aggressive exaust lobe and lower exaust lift.
My next cam will have the same properties.

Re: G5 cam specs
Thanks for posting Terry. Keeping cam specs "secret" is silly. Like people have mentioned above a cam doctor is an easy thing to get ahold of and use
Besides people can more accurately setup their combos now knowing the specs.
Cheers,
Chris

Booker Man,
You didn't tick me off. I was just pointing out that these cams are really very different even if on the surface they look similar. Don't take it the wrong way.

Re: G5 cam specs
Its a frickin cam people, there is nothing new here at all! Some of you were begging to know the cam specs about this "super secret cam" and Terry posted them, and now he is getting flamed. MTI posts their specs on all of their cams, so does MMS and the rest of the tuners...

Re: G5 cam specs
Yeah, I agree with nick above. It's just a cam. Most every other tuner has been making their cam specs public anyway.
I am suprised it went on this long without someone posting it. Somehow I really doubt that there will be a rush of tuners, etc. copying it. It's a fine cam, no question, but it's not a setup that has been unknown before. If anyone should be worried about people copying their "new ideas" I would suggest it would be thunder racing. I wouldn't be suprised to see a few more people using reverse splits now.
In the end security through obscurity just doesn't work well with all the tools available to us. You can't position yourself as the only one who offers this - instead you have to offer more value in some manner - be it price, service, performance, etc. Somehow I think LG will do just fine.

Re: G5 cam specs
I am going to be the devils advocate here. Whos to say that the other vendors cams are truly what they say they are? I say we cam doctor everyones cams and see.. MMS, MTI, CARTECH, ARE,RAGING MOTORSPORTS, THUNDER RACING,TEA,JPR,etc., if I missed your name then forgive me.. What I say and what it is is two different things.. Good example.. The old Lunati T1's were not actually 221/221 .558/.558 lsa 112. Some were 224's.. Hmmmmm...
