Who are the top 5 LSX cylinder head porters in the country?
#61
I have always used Mike Yelvi. I've used him for about 10 years now and has always been really straight forward with me. I know he is not a top 5 lsx head porter though, but for what I am doing, he gets the job done.
If I do another set of heads, I might give Chris at Raymac a shot and see how they turn out.

Conflicting flow numbers are a part of this business. It happens every day. The final judge of a head is its performance on the track.
No two head porters think or port alike. That leads to a LOT of criticism between head porters. They see things they don't like about a competitors head and say that those things are "wrong" when in fact they may not be. You have to also take into account that many head porters are arrogant and just plain primmadonna's.
I'm used to people telling me I'm wrong all the time so I'm ok with yuor disagreement, but please don't think I'm saying you and Chris are dishonest.

Id say his work speaks for itself on that 372 ci LS1 in the dyno section.

What the hell is Jay doing now, anyone know????

He did the heads on my car. I think the two BEST head porters hands down went into hiding together.

Larry is the only real one you are going to know about.... I could probably fill the list of the other 2 or 3 but they are not bargin basement pricing enough to fit in or care about street stuff. The guys who specialize in PROFESSIONAL racing for these heads make the real killer heads. I've seen stock valve LS6 heads that would embarass the $2500+ aftermarket offereings. (320cfm thru a 2.000" valve, 3.900" bore on a small 243 port)
Casey and Trevor are both pretty bad ***.... hell you can buy Casey's early LS6 port straight from GMPP in their CNC LS6 casting. That thing with a valve job ain't bad, but Casey can do better.... there is a reason the SAM car runs so well. Craig (GTP) is up there too, but his good stuff will cost you and he would be in the top 3 above. The other two aren't really heard of so lets just keep them that way. I know one of them does stuff you guys see numbers from all the time, but isin't public friendly. He will probably laugh when he reads this too, but hopefully soon you can get a CNC version of one of his ports.
One of the sponsors on here who is dam smart is Richard @ WCCH, he is a impressive guy to say the least.

Chris, flowed them on the wet flow as well and corrected some things. They dont stall now til right about 780 lift which is better. They picked up some flow doing more modification on the short side radius. They will make power now but I think Brian's changed his mind on using the heads to find out for sure.

Trevor is not a dummy and does good work, thats one reason why a LOT of guys who know what they are talking about on here put him on THEIR list.

Craig at GTP gets my vote...even on the old head castings (853) he would get GREAT #'s. Elliot over near Ft. Worth does good work for his prices, did a set of LT1 heads for a friend of mine that turned out nice.

Thanx Mark but with the names that have been thrown around here in this thread I am not worthy of being mentioned were people are asking for the top five. Some of the "top five" have seen my work and the couple that have posted up named people that I would name.
