Jake, the "Stage 3" MTI heads open up the chamber and will flow much better. A stage 2 would work on a big bore motor, but a stage 3 opens up the chamber to match the larger bore. So if a stage 3 was installed on a stock bore motor the chamber would hang over the bore so it wouldn't work. Opening up the chamber WILL benefit a big bore motor.

Who sells resleeved blocks or will sleeve one. Can get it done local but not cheap.

How is the 434 doing water-wise, Tony?

I heard the results and Im really psyched. I have someone dropping a block off at MTI in about a week for mine to get started.

Couple interesting notes on this configuration:

You mentioned R1, but I think the R1 was on a 114 ls. You said this was on a 112 ls.

Stock injectors are way too small for that setup. Ive already got my 30# injectors from MTI waiting.

There is nothign exotic about this setup, just MTI's good work. Mine will be exactly the same, with the same parts used.

I didnt ask, but I assume he used stock rockers. Im going to try and come up with the $$$ for the spacers and the nice Jesel setup, soI can spin this thing to the moon.

Awesome results... very...very exciting.

And the bottom end is $5500. Assuming thats makes 50 additional HP or more, thats the next great deal after H/C/I

I didn't know he was doing stuff to the White C5. I thought he was just getting rid of the Black 422ci?? That's cool though.

Ok... Tony tell me how much would it cost to get one of these suckers put in a 99 Hardtop Vette. If I see your flashers by 3-4 lengths plus Im going to get one of these suckers built with a 200 shot just for you <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Nah Im kinda interested in something like that for a everyday driver. I do want to build a 87-93 LX with a big motor and a extremly large shot of nitrous.. But gotta start saving some serious $$ for the next year or so lol.

Visceral, I'm at 400 miles on the motor now and not a drop of condensation under the oil cap <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

R1 cam is available with either 112 or 114 LSA.

Now THAT'S what I am talking about... like I said in another thread (and someone else said in this one), drop the compression on that motor down to @9:1 or so an boost it!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Obviously, a FI cam wouldn't be as agressive but I really do think that 600+ RWHP is a realistic possibility out of a setup like that on a mild amount of boost and pump gas... maybe one of those LS1 Motorsports single turbo kits... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Tony,

As I understand, the only difference between this motor and your new set-up is the extra stroke provided by your crank (3.62 vs. 4.00). Both motors have the same bore.

In terms of revving the motor, how much higher can you spin the 393 c.i. motor RPM-wise versus your 434 c.i. super-stroker?

Assuming SW's car gets tuned and you guys are both making 500 rwHP each, would the capability to spin the 393 c.i. motor higher offset your motor's extra 50rwTQ on the drag strip?

Jahel, I'm actually at 525 rwhp and I haven't done any dyno tuning yet. Even if SW's 393ci eventually makes 500 rwhp, it would still get walked by a 422-434ci setup that makes the same peak HP. Its all about area under the HP curve as you know, and the torque differentials are HUGE. Compare his 444 ft-lbs to my 516 ft-lbs. My motor is over 500 rwhp at only 5200 rpm.

I do believe that a solid roller 393ci setup could make close to the same peak HP as my 434ci, but it would do so at a much higher rpm (7500?) and to be honest I do not think anyone has tested the stock crankshafts up to that limit yet. It might be nasty <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

If my setup were a solid roller, I'd be able to shift it as high as it wants to go. The other 422ci solid rollers are shifting at 7500 rpm or so.
