Default Anyone have 1.8 or 1.85 rockers with stock cam?

TByrne has 1.85 rockers, springs, titanium retainers, keepers, for $599, $540 after his current 10% discount. That's about the same price as a cam, springs, retainers, pushrods, but the rockers would be a lot easier to install than a cam.

I'd go for a mild cam if I got one, maybe 218/218 with a 114LSA. How would rockers with the stock cam compare to that? I've got a 99 LS1, and would probably get headers and a 2001 intake manifold if I get a cam or rockers.

Thanks.

You are a lot better off just getting a cam. Too many problems with changing the rockers. It isn't hard, but the benefit just isn't worth the work or the money. Get a cam, pushrods, springs, retainers and you'll be a hell of a lot happier.

Well, bigger rockers don't give ya a lotta bang-for-the-buck relative to a lotta other mods, but they can hang.

My advice would be to stay away from the rockers that aren't true rollers. That includes the stock or SLP kind. Get some shaft mount T&D's or Jesels. I have the Crane single post Golds. Actually, they are more than adequate for a daily driver that sees a fair amount of WOT runs and some strip use.

What bigger rockers do is increase the ramp rates of any cam. They also increase lift by 6-9% depending on which ratio ya go w/. With the proper cam, they can prolong low-end usability and add high end breathing capabilities.

There is HP to be found in rockers, but it isn't worth it until you need it. I agree that good aftermarket valvetrain parts are a good idea, but to the average person they just aren't needed.

You'll be a hell of a lot happier with a good cam.
