Head bolt tap sizes?

Head bolt tap sizes? My brother and I are replacing the heads on his SS and I need to know the tap size for the head bolts so I can clean them out. Thanks.

Re: Head bolt tap sizes? If you can't find the right size, you can use the JMX method of grinding a slot in one of the old head bolts and using that as a cleaning tap. This is what I did and it works pretty well, plus its free <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Re: Head bolt tap sizes? I would not chase the treads with a tap. If you chase the treads with a tap it will remove material and weaken the treads. I know I did it once, dumb. I had to have treaded inserts installed to fix it
The tool you need is referred to by SNAP-ON tool as Metric Retreading tool. I would just blow the holes out with air.
