4-7 firing order cam swap
ok, maybe this has been talked about before, but the search function isn't working.
i was watching horsepower tv (i know, no laughing) and they did a cam swap in a SBC motor that changed the firing order of cylinders 4 and 7. they said the company who markets the cam claims that this allows for better fuel flow to the cylinders. the firing order is all that the cam changed, ie same lift, duration and lobe shape.
when they dynoed the motor, it had a 500hp baseline and 530hp after the swap.
anyone ever tried this or have any more info?
thanks
tony

The LS1 firing order is a copy from the 1954 Caddy's. It helps reduce harmonic vibrations by firing the outside cylinders first then the inside cylinders. It gives it a rythmatic pulse kinda like a heart beat. The LS1 firing order is a two cylinder swap compaired to your older SBC's.
