Default LS6 valve seats......

I have a set & intended to use them when I replaced the springs.I ended up not changing them because doing so required removing the valve seals,& I didn't have new seals on hand
Is it a problem to run LS6 springs with stock '98 valve shims?
Obviously I should have replaced the seals because the car, post cam/intake/header install, smokes heavily on decel & uses twice the amount of oil as before. What happend???

Shouldn't be. They all used the same seat shims until the seal and shim became a one piece deal

The new seat/shims are integral w/ the valve stem seals.

Well,as far as I could tell the seats(shims) & seals were separate.
When I ordered my LS6 springs I asked the parts guy if shims were different from LS1 to LS6.I could only assume one was thicker than the other.

For 2002, the seal and seat are together. I've read that the seat is .030" thicker than the older ones. I've also read that the LS6/Hotcam springs use .030" thicker seats. Again, I've never measured for myself, its just what I've read.
