Default 2002 oil pump or ported version?

I'm going to be installing my cam pretty soon on my '98 Z28 and was planing on upgraded the oil pump. Should I bother to go with a ported pump from ARE? I can get a 2002 for $75 bucks, so if the ported isn't worth much presure or reliablity then I feel it may not be worth it. What are yalls opinions?

Go with the Katech version. I think it is cheaper than the ARE. As long as you're replacing the oil pump, might as well go with a high flowing one and have peace of mind once and for all.

well... I haven't tried either (still on my stock 2000 pump) but if the price isn't much higher for the ARE one I'd go with that... it's proven on big power motors.

I would stick with a new stock pump. Bigger is not always better when it comes to oil pumps.

I "think" Thunder Racing has just started selling the Katech oil pump, not sure on pricing, I'm going to be getting it from them when I order my cam next week.

Katech just doesn't list it on the site. Same goes for the jwis timing chain. Email them and they'll get back to you in a hurry.

I got the katech pump but think its just a blueprinted stock pump same as stock pressure if I am correct..still they say they are fine in race use.I still wonder if I should have got the are with more pressure..oh well ,at least my stock 99 pump is out of there.
