Dropping Oil pressure Help
The o-ring is in the pump, made very sure of that. The oil has been changed. Always have run Mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30. What could possible be causing this. It has me very concerned.
Thanks in advance
John
If it's not an '02, I'd replace the pump. If it was "disturbed" it may have gone to rest...

Also, I use RP 5W30. Compared to that, M1 is warm **** water. It's WAY thinner than the RP.

I do agree it does get lower at higer temps, but this is very abnormal. I had the same oil filter and oil that was in the car before I changed the cam. Then I changed my oil and still had the same problem.

Is the weather getting hotter maybe? mine always drops in hot weather, at an idle it will drop down to about 37-39 when it's hot and the motor is warmed up from sitting in traffic.

The stock gauges are only good to tell you its too late, your out, and you just spent alot of money
I've seen a stock gauge say 10psi but in reality it had 40.

you might have a clogged pump. if you've ever taken one of these oil pumps apart, you know that the intake line is pretty small to start with and it's very possible that you might have a piece of crud lodged in the pickup or the pump itself. good luck

I will agree on that its either clogged or your pump is going bad which I know you replaced but get it checked into at MMS if they did the install.I am sure they will correct it.They deal with these cars all the time.
But when the car is cold it give the correct pressure then slowly drop down to 20 (first line) or a tad below then will go back up when I give it gas.
John

That's almost exactly what happens to mine. In traffic with hot idle, it only idles around 18 or so (according to the gauge). I thought my stock pump was going out, so I bought an ARE high volume pump and nothing changed (except for the fact that I was out an extra $215). It does read higher at WOT and cold idle startup than the stock pump though. I've heard it could be the oil sending unit but I haven't checked that out.
The car has been doing that for 2+yrs now. I've had the new pump in for over 1yr and have been driving it every day since...rain, snow, or sun.

So the truck PCV fixed the problem. Very interesting., What was the part # for that. I guess it is worth a try.

Either the PCV or the oil filter, I'm not sure which one fixed the problem. It's 100 degrees here today and idle is still above 40.
Part# 12572717 for the truck PCV $3.86 from my local dealer.
