Cam Selections with ported Ls1 heads and headers!

Cam Selections with ported Ls1 heads and headers! I am looking for a cam that will be awesome on the street with a smooth idle. I have some LS1 heads that will be ported and some after market headers and a 2800 stall converter. Would the A1 cam from MTI be a good choice 209/216 with a 532/558 lift and a 114 lobe center? I also saw a cam with a 208/216 with a 534/534 lift with a 114 lobe center? Is it possible to run high 11's low 12's with a cam with a short duration? Futhermore, I have a A4 transmission with some 3.23 gears. I would love to leave them in there so my car will shift into ovrdrive at 132 mph. I like the interstate running. Besides, I am trying to make around 430 plus hp. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

They'd haveta be longtubes, and the heads would haveta flow pretty well. And, those'r too small of cam choices to be hittin' 430fwhp.
It's *possible* to get into the 11's *stock* if ya remove enough weight and do enough *free* porting. It just ain't easy.
I'd go *more*. And, *bigger*.

Re: Cam Selections with ported Ls1 heads and headers! If you want to get into the 11's you'll need a good cam and a stall to match. Why get a 2800 stall with ported heads and a cam? I'd recommend the Thunder 224 on a 112 LSA, Yank 3500 (Super Yank for street tires/Nitto's) (Super Thruster for ET Streets), and custom programming to go with your heads. You'll need the 918 springs and some hardened pushrods and you're all set. Mac headers with an ORP will be more than adequate for your setup. Ed Wright did well with my programming.
Heads and cam will make your car faster but with a 2800 stall you are wasting time and money there. Keep in mind mods work together as a group. Match your stall speed with your mod level and powerband and you'll be running 11's no problem with those mods.
