I totally agree. One shop's h/c package might not work well with your car if it doesn't fit your goals. I personally thinks it's imperative to establish goals with your car. Peak horsepower means jack **** if it's made at 7000 rpm and you do most of your driving on the street. Decide what you want to do with your car, where it's going to be used, then talk with shops and get a setup that will work well with what you want. It's all about the combination, not peak numbers. Myself? I'm most likely going to go with GTP S3 6.0L heads, and a relatively mild cam. I'm going to have a s/c on the car, and the 6.0L heads will work well because they flow well and will lower my CR. I want a milder cam because for the most part the car will be street driven, and I want peak power somewhere around 6000-6300. Power lower in the rpm's also means it'll last longer. But, to each his own!

That is like asking where the day begins and night ends. Everyone has a differnt answer.
I went with a set of Stage 1 (stock valves) CNC ported by Total Engine Airflow. Hammer cam and Mac headers. It was within my budget and I make great power.
My clutch lasted under a month with 6 1/8th passes on nitto's. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Fun Fun!

For my time and money I went with Thunder Racing H/C package. So far we have went 11.34 @ 122mph with only 270 miles on her with 31 track passes. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />
I do drive the Hot Rod to work and on monday I am going to put about 1,200 miles on her diving up to Oklahoma to see my daughter. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Best of luck on your decision. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Everybody has there favorite shop-combo.
For a mild combo that PERFORMS, the MTI stage 2 heads/cam combo has worked well for me. (See my web page for a LOT more info)
Find a shop that is putting out the numbers and performance that you aspire to, and contact them.
Good luck on making your choice, I hope you end up happy. I know that I dang sure am. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I would have to agree with everyone when they say to do some shopping around. I personally have the Racenet IRS Heads/cam package. The package is probably the least expensive package available.
Cost $2199.00
Each Package Includes:
Racenet Performance Street/Strip LS1 Cylinder Heads
Competition Cams Xtreme Energy LS1 Camshaft of your choice
Comp Cams or Manley LS1 Chrome Moly Pushrod Set
New LS1 Head Gaskets
New LS1 Cylinder Head Bolts
Got this off the www.racenet.net site
I made 400rwhp in my auto with this package. I picked the 215/221 114 Comp Cam. I also dynoed the car through the converter. I know that there are many packages out there that make good power but I picked this one because it was very inexpensive. I was very pleased with the outcome! Good luck with choosing your combo...it isn't easy!
