Default Convert My '02 LS1 into an LS6?

I'm new to the LS1, but I was reading that I can buy LS6 heads and cams from GM. Now, if my LS1 already has the LS6 block and intake, what kind of power are we looking at if I swap in production LS6 heads and cam? What other parts will I need?

This is for my daily driver, so fuel economy and reliability are very important. I thought this might be the safest way to get to 400hp.

Thanks!

Your car should already have ls6 heads and the truck cam in it.If not then dont bother switching just get a bigger cam and some ported ls1 heads.

You do not have LS6 heads. You would need the LS6 heads and the LS6 cam. For about the same price, you can make more power with ported LS1 heads and a bigger cam the the 02 LS6 has. But, ported LS6 heads and a good cam would be best and worth it if you are doing H/C anyways. If you are worrying about warranty and think that because you buy the parts directly from GM they will be covered, don't bet on it. They will take away your whole drivetrain warranty just as aftermarket H/C would.

BTW, LS6 heads and cam are all that are need, and they will get you to 400 rwhp, assuming you have all the necessary bolt-ons. But, like I said earlier, I would go with good aftermarket heads and cam.

Intake manifold is LS6,you may have an LS6 block you will need to read the production #s.

Then put the # in the search feature and read the threads that come up.

If your going to spend that kind of money(H/C) go with ported heads and an aftermarket cam.
