Default Compatability Question

Im ordering my ported ls6 heads with a tsp224/224 cam and im going to run stock length pushrods. I just want to make sure that once everything is installed i will have enough clearance between the valves and pistons, is there any thing else i should be worried about or will everything be compatable. Also i only have 30k miles on my motor but would anyone recommend installing new lifters while the motor is apart? What would the benefit to upgraded lifters be?

I know this isnt a large cam but i just want to make sure when i start the car i dont kill my motor

Yeah you will be fine for PTVC. I would look into a longer pushrod though, like a 7.4 or little bigger to make up for the new cams smaller base circle.

You should have no issue with PTVC at all with that cam. Ditto on the PRs but I would deff. recommend chromoly/hardened ones. Comp 7.4s here and I don't have the "sewing machine" noise. As long as you've kept good oil and levels in there, lifters are more than likely fine at 30k. 75k on mine and you really couldn't tell if they needed changed or not. Heads were off in my case so I did it anyway. Next thing you'll need to watch out for is the rockers. Exploded fulcrums and needle bearings everywhere kind of sucks.

im sorry i didnt mean stock length i meant the standard 7.400 chromeoly pushrods. How long do u think the rockers should last and what happens if one breaks none of the parts can get into the engine can they?
