Default After head & Cam questions on a 99 ls1

Hi, Besides my oil leak in other posting. I started up my car yesterday after the install, the engine was making alot of noise and i wanted to know how long does the noise suppose to last and smooths out? I installed 243 heads and hpe 224/224,581/581,114 cam, multi layer stock head gasket, yella terra 1.7 rockers with a 7.425 pushrods. I torqued the rockers to 22lb and i used washers in each rockers. Do u think the noise is from the rockers hitting the valve covers or me using the yella rockers was okay with my 99 ls1 valve covers? Or maybe the longer pushrods have something to do with it? PLEASE HELP!!!

Why did you install longer pushrods? I would think you could have used stock but I am not sure with those rocker. . That sounds like that could be the problem. How noisy is noisy?

the motor will be a little louder.... but you should only hear it with the hood up.... and should sound near stock with hood down.

I suggest that anyone who is concerned about valvetrain noise, do a search, and finda thread with Patrick G's signature. It has an sound clip of his car at idle. If you car sounds like that, then all is probably fine. My car sounded just like his. I've since swapped out the XER lobed 224/228 and installed the Lunati 221/221 you see in my sig. The valvetrain has quieted significantly. I've given up power for quiet, but the car still drives great.
