Default I'm just putting my engine back in and I have a cooling issue

The engine extremely hot quickly. I've filled up the rad.

One thing I did notice is two holes on the engine side of the rad. They are right below the pressure cap. Is something supposed to screw in there? I didn't unscrew anything when I took it out. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Of the two holes, the top one connects back to the front collant crossover tube between the heads. The bottom hole is for the transmission cooling lines.
