Default C5R LS1 heads

1- are these regular LS1 heads that are ported?

2- if not are they better than LS6 heads?

3- can i use stock intake manifold and regular headers with those C5R LS1 heads?

thanks

Its my understanding that these heads are the ultimate in the LS series, but they won't accept a LS1 or LS6 intake. A custom intake must be made. Also these heads are REALLY $$$$$$$. I would go with a good set of LS6 heads. MTI does a stage 3 port job on these along with their 422s and get awesome numbers.

The C5R heads are around 2500 low to about 3000 average just for a set of cores not including porting. Porting and springs will probably run you around 4000 + with titanium valves which most shops recommend you do with the C5R heads. Then you have the cost of adding a custom intake around 3000 more and a Jesel Rocker setup that is required and costs around 1750.

So if you want to spend around 11,750 or possibly even more in small things to go with them go ahead

I plan to do it probably next year to go with my C5R block. Right now I just can't afford it. A set of LS6's would make great power on a C5R block. Just depends on how big your budget is

Also the C5R heads have really small chambers and will cause you to have MAD compression If you want to drive it everyday you might have to have the chambers opened up significantly or pull something out of the magic hat to get your compression to a considerable level. Just depends on what kind of gas you have avialable and if you want to run race gas all the time.

How about you throw them on my motor for no extra charge.

HOW serious are you about wanting to get rid of them.

I'm going to call you early next week. I want to ask you something about a cam.

I suppose I should quit dreaming, though...

I'm ready to install it. Just waiting on it to ship from ARE. We are really close now. The guys up at ARE are tweaking away and they have been very busy lately. I'd rather them take their time and get it right than have minor problems. On another note. I would love to have it running by the 4th of July for a show I've been planning to attend. I already missed the f-body.org national event

Thanks.
