No problem.
If I had a 'spinning test bench' which I don't, and I don't have access to one either ( <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> ), then I would LOVE to do that test and put this all to bed so to speak, for everyone's benefit. I do have access to an engine dyno though, and that is what I base it from. Also what David Reher states. If you disagree, thats fine. If everyone agreed on everything together, and their was no debating (not arguing), then there would be only small advancements in engine design, agreed? If this post just makes people think, and nothing more, than I'm satisfied. As to which side of the fence they go, it doesn't matter to me, but hopefully the will do research (psychical) of their own, which can only benefit them, both experience wise and mentally! I thought this was a good debate personally. I just don't like it when some people make it personal, with derogatory statements about others on this board because opinions/findings/experience are at odds with their own. THAT I find is not acceptable, and I TRY to avoid it by keeping it technical.
BTW, if I need to know (as in find out) something about the LS1 engine or peripherals that I don't know about, then I come here and ask for everyones opinion, and take note of especially those guys who 'did it themselves' more so than the store bought guys (to quote Sienfeld, "not that theres anything wrong with that! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> ).
Guess I'll be only one of a few with 'heavy' valve springs on my LS1!!

Re: Heavy valve springs don't use more HP If you've done back to back valve spring testing with a torque wrench and have specific results then by all means share the information with us. Until that point it's simply a theory.
My experience (theory) has been that with heavier valve springs it takes more torque to get the engine moving but if you keep it going it's no different than with lighter springs.
At least we agree that the spring returns most of its force. All we disagree on now is the loss to friction. I say it's small, you say it’s huge. A physics wiz should be able to whip out the actual power required to run the entire valve train. Is anyone on here up to that task?
