Default synthetic and regular oil

i was wondering if switching to synthetic oil using it for a while then going back to regular oil for a few oil changes and then back to synthetic has caused any build up of sludge or cause any other problems. or should i have just picked one and stuck with it thanks

Any petroleum based oil (non-synthetic) will leave internal deposits. Use a good synthetic, such as the Valvoline synthetic, or??, and stick with it. Why use $5 oil in a big $$ engine?

The new SL rated dino oils are a lot better in the sludge department, as that sludge test got a lot stricter with SL than it was with the old SJ rating system. Synthetic is still better at keeping sludge away, but the gap is closing. As a side note, because SL is harder to acheive, dino oils are now using a much better base oil, a group II+ oil which is effectively somewhat synthetic since it involves rearranging the molecules to make them better.

For removing sludge buildup, I found out about this new product called Auto-rx. I'm going to try it out in my car on the next oil change actually. You can read about it here:

www.auto-rx.com

It comes highly recommended by the guy that is doing my oil analysis (Terry Dyson, the one that just did Trevor D's analysis)
