Default Is a upgraded Oil Pump nessesary with a bigger cam !

The TR330 is going in next week and I would like to know your thoughts on running a stock oil pump. I remember someone once saying you need 10 psi for ever 1000 rpms. I am just a little worried about messing with the oil systems on these cars considering how dependent they are on proper oil pressure.

I don't know that it's necessary, but from what I've read on the forums, it's not uncommon for the stock ones to fail. For around $150, it's cheap insurance to replace it. Since you're doing a cam, there's no better time to replace it.

I had the LS6 pump ready to go at the time of the cam change & realised that changing the pump also required dropping of the oil pan.Not enough time alotted. My stock oil pump remains.

I thought I had read somewhere that they made some changes to the oil pump in 2001-02 cars because of that problem.

Do some searching and check it out.
