Default YELLA TERRA 1.7 rocker and pushrod questions

Hi, I have 224/224,580/580.114 cam and ls6 243 heads ,1.7 yella rockers and i'm using the 02-up stock Gm multilayer steel head gasket thats .060 thick and using 7.425 pushrods in my 99 ls1. I wanted to know if the 7.425 were okay to use, because i started the car and it was making alot of noise and was wondering if the legnth of the pushrods were the problem. I curious if i put some shims/washers on the bottom of the rockers would that makeup the difference of having shorter pushrods of using the washers once it's torqued to 22lb?I really don't have too much money left now for me to buy another set of 7.4 rods. I really spent too much money on my car and i also have other problems with my car as far as me having to change my head gasket again since it's leaking coolant .also have to buy a engine hoist to change my oilpan gasket too. So please help me with me taking care of this problem first
