Default Need help with spring install

I am installing a set of Comp 918 springs with the Ti retainers and found the install height needs to be 1.800"

The question I have is: Let's say you install the spring and come up greater than 1.800" ?

I assume you will need to use shims, but I do not have any. Where can I find some? Does anyone have a part number?

Also, can someone please tell me how to shim them properly. I just ordered the height mic. from Comp and it should be here Friday.

Thanks
Mark

A VSI 107 shim will work inside the stock spring pad. You can obtain them from most any local machine shop. The 107 shims fit a little loose around the guide, but they have the smallest id of the shims I have used. The shims can be obtained in .060", .030" and .015" thicknesses. Case hardened shims will have the desingation HP after the part number.
FYI I made some spring seat locators for LS1 heads. They register snugly around the valve guide and have a shoulder to locate the inside dia. of the spring. The shoulder dia. measures .870". They are made from 17-4 heat treated stainless steel. I don't know what the inside dia. of the 918 spring is, but I imagine it's pretty close. The spring seat locators keep the bottom of the spring from walking around the spring pad and help reduce potential spring breakage.

Hope this helps.
