do i need to degree my cam?

someone told me i might have to degree it, and someone else said something about it "self degreeing" or something to that nature. do i need to pick up a tool or not?

Well, it all depends. I just put in my 3rd Comp cam (okay, actually I *watched* the shop do it). They were all installed w/in 1 degree of where Comp said they were when installed "dot-to-dot" (tough to get that last 1 degree... )
For the extra hassle of degreeing the cam, I've achieved some level of comfort w/ Comp's stuff, enough that I could be comfortable skipping the degreeing. That isn't to say the next one would be good, or that other manufacturers have the same level of quality (I'm sure most do).
