Default Stroker time

I am putting the Camaro in the garage for the rest of the year. Yes, its stroker motor time. I need some input on the machine work I need to build the motor. I want to stay with the LS1 block and upgrade to stage III heads.
So what is the best route to go with the original block? How big should I take this thing. I still want to street drive it, and trailer it to national events. I would like to run 9's on the squeeze. Help me out! <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Camaro]" title="" src="graemlins/camaro.gif" />

The ? is how much are you willing to spend you should call a shop like MTI Im giving a lot of thought towards there new 393 big bore but with a solid roller cam but if you want a stroker the 422's are making awsome power.

What Jimmy said ! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I too am thinking of going big bore, and a slolid roller setup... Call different shops, and talk to each, then go with the one you feel the most comfortable with! MMS, ARE, MTI, LG, Raging Motorsports, and Futral motorsports can all get you pointed in the right direction! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Good luck,
TJ

If your staying with the aluminum block your going to have to get it resleeved to get any overbore outta it.

If your going to spray it I would stick with a 4.100" bore. From what I hear they have the least problems and the extra meat on the cylinder walls will be nice for a big N2O shot.

While the LS6 heads are nice you just can't beat the price of a set of 6.0L aluminum truck heads. Cores are only like $450 compared to the cheapest price of ~$1200 dollars for the LS6 cores. The runners are very close to the same from what I hear.

I think the Lunati stroker cranks all cost the same no matter what stroke you get. Since you don't need to rev the crap outta a N2O motor get the 4.125" crank.

That'll give you a nice lightweight 436ci beast. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

The torque from a setup like this should be ungodly. <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />

I don't think breaking into the 9's will be a problem with a setup like this. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

I have budgeted $12,000 dollars for the motor. That includes everything. Basically I am putting $1000 bucks aside per month for six months and then bonus comes at the end of the year. That will finance this whole thing.
I like the idea of the big bore. I will be building the motor myself. The machine work will get done in Kansas City, I think there is a shop down there that does ls1 work. I have lined up some stage III heads that I want, and am researching the cam and other parts over the next month. I am going to go with the sheetmetal intake and the highflow fuel runners, with the new NOSzle nitrous system. Gonna sell the 6speed and get a th-400 with a large stall and brake too. Its gonna suck to not have my car for a year, but the end results will put me up with the other 9 second cars. Hell, if I get a big enough bonus maybe an 8?!?!
