Default Biggest cam before stock heads become too much of bottleneck?

I still dont justify spending $3k+ for a set of worked stock heads Whats the biggest cam that you can get for the stock heads and not have them be too much bottleneck?

So buy some cheaper heads! Mine were $1850, and the set I used to run on my 2000 C5 was $1149.

You have a lot of options Carl. What is your goal NA? I am sure your car will dyno what mine did with cam and headers. My co-worker just dyno'd his 2001 Z28 and he did better w/out hpp3. He dyno 371rwhp.. I dyno'd 372rwhp w/out any tuning as well. Post Ed Wright I dyno'd 390rwhp. That was a 18rwhp increase from mail order tuning.

Hehehe, I know someone that runs an 11.3 and he has a nice cam, but I dont think it work with stock heads. My main goal is for the most power N/A since I dont spray very often, but when I do, I want to gain there also.

Terry, I know about the MMS heads, but you dont see hardly anyone "brag" about them. You hardly see anything at all about them, except for you. Also it took me 3 months for a ported TB, how long for a set of heads?

So buy someone elses heads. The point is you can get good heads for $1000-$1800. No reason to spend $3000!

You might want to check out the ARE "street eliminator" heads/cam package.

Here is a thread with some info about it.

I dont think I want to do the heads yet. If I would do a heads and cam package, then it would be aggressive since I only drive the car maybe once or twice a week. Its not my daily driver.

Thats why I was looking at just cams for now, but might have to do a heads/cam deal so I dont change cams twice.

I gotcha now.

Well then you might want to look into one of the reverse split cams if your going to stay with the stock heads.

Maybe the TR230/224? I don't know how the stock springs are gonna like it though.

If you try a reverse split Carl you might want to make sure you get programming. So far from what I have read the individuals who do not have ls1edit with those cams are not doing so well. Yes Joey is doing well with his cam. He also has heads.. Its kind of hard to compare a M6 to A4..

I dont think a reverse split cam would work well with N2O. Alot of intake duration and less exhaust. When I do spray, it couldnt get all the spent gasses out enough, I dont think

Vince: Hehe, how did ya know who I was talkin about I might get the 01 LS1edit as soon as I do more research on it. I dont want to buy it not knowing what Im doin

DOH!!!

I didn't see the 150 or 200 shot "depending on your mood" in the sig. LOL

Maybe a 226/234 like Chris ARE 360 is running.

Carl who else around here runs a 11.3 on motor with just H/C? The other person is Mark and he runs 11.2's.
