H/C or STS
Pros:
Awesome lope
instant throttle response
easier to tune
decent power all motor
fast off the line
+ nitrous = awesome power
Cons:
poor gas mileage
loss of low end torque
harder to pass emissions
need nitrous refills - 10lb bottle won't last a day
STS:
Pros:
Stock-like drivability
good gas mileage
power always there when needed
torque everywhere
nasty top end
carb legal
Cons:
Poor throttle response
hangs a little low for some
need to build boost to get good launch
will get rather expensive so most people don't do it right
With my built motor I am over 600rwhp/600rwtq all day. Do heads/cam+spray if you don't want more than 550rwhp. You will go through spray like no tomorrow at higher power levels. STS was a bumpy ride but it was well worth it at the end. It gets my vote.

A nice H/C kit is Vengeance TFS 215 / custom cam / ported 90

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Sts I Didnt Like With An Auto It Would Ahve Been Better. Way To Much Lag And No Throttle Responce. H/c Was Fun Way More Responcive And Better Low End.
If I Did It Again I Would Just Save For What I Wantted In The End Like My 402
If You Really Do Want A 408 Turbo Car Then Build For That Get Parts That Will Work Now And Then.
If You Have 3500 Save Another 2-3 And Just Do The 408 ((built For A Turbo)cam And Low Compression) Then Later Build The Fuel System And Last But Not Least The **turbo** Thats How I Would Do It

but that is a good plan

If you go sts talk to sponsers here that sell the kits get a front mount for it its not gunna be 4000 when done right i can tell you that much.
Heads and cam will be less exspensive now but when you go to build that turbo and your selling all this stuff your gunna know how exspensive it really was.
where do you download this?

My rule is only pay cash for mods. If I can't afford it...I truly don't need it.
FI is all fun and games until you feel like being SERIOUS about it....then you might as well pull your pants down, bend over and invite all of the turbo accessory manufacturers to come on over for a good time..
Dont get me wrong, I WOULD LOVE to build a FI set up, and probably will (one day), but honestly, pound for pound, simplicity wise, get a nice head/cam package and call it a day...
If you want to know how much price difference im talking, go read my buddies sticky over in FI, regarding how much youre REALLY going to spend with FI
Good luck
Many people finance parts, its a part of life. If you are lucky enough NOT to have to then dont by all means, but if you do, then do it responsibly.
I put some parts on a 12 month 0% interest card. I DID NOT max it out though. I ONLY put on it what I knew I could pay off in HALF of those 12 months...that way I have 6 month cushion just in case!
Good luck
*edit* I would NEVER finance an STS kit for 26% or whatever it is...thats REDIC
