What grade and how often do you change your oil and filter. I'm thinking of switching to RP if I can go longer in miles to justify the extra expence. tia, sam <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />

Re: ??? for Royal Purple users
I recently had an oil analysis done on my Royal Purple 10w-30. This is the ONLY true way to know how well your oil is doing. I was not impressed at all. With only 1,250 miles and just under three months of use, the oil had sheared back to nearly a 20 wt. oil! That's not what I want protecting my engine when it's turning 6,800 RPM. I put RP 10w-30 back in, and I'm going to test the new batch at 1,250 miles again. At that point, I will probably go with RedLine or Schaeffer's. Schaeffer's is a blend and comes in right around $3/qt. vs. RedLine's $7+/qt. Both oils seem to be holding up VERY well, but I'm still leaning towards RedLine at this point. I had my oil analysis done by Dyson Analysis in Greenville, TX. It's $25 for an analysis and kit ($27.06 for TX residents), and Terry Dyson will fully explain the results to you. I received the results 8 days after dropping the oil in the mail. You can see my original post here.
You can get some GREAT information and check out various oil analyses at www.bobistheoilguy.com. Click on "new message board", and you'll be able to see info on different oils, oil filters, etc.

I know an engine builder/dragracer in Brewster NY who also uses RP #41 in his Viper. He changes the filter@ 6K miles and the oil and filter @ 12K miles. He had an analysis done at 12K miles and had NO shear back what so ever. ( I would not go that long)PS: He uses the same oil in his drag car although not as long. But you would be VERY surprised at how long he does keep it in the drag car.
